Preamble. The National Institute of Health, Islamabad is is playing a pivotal role in promoting the health activities in Pakistan. The institute has its own residential colony for its employees. To look after the affairs residential colony, an independent Estate office under the supervision of Estate Officer, BPS-17 is functioning in the main campus of the Institute. The NIH colony is consisting of 326 Bungalows/Quarters of which details are as follows:
· B-Type Bungalows. 06 · C -Type Bungalows 13 · D-Type Bungalows 34 · E. -Type Bungalows 44 · F -Type Quarters 48 · G-Type Quarters 84 · H-.Type Quarters 97
Functions: To look after the repair/Maintenance matters of the Institute as well as its residential colony in coordination with the maintenance Sub-Division. To look after the jungle/cut up area of NIH in coordination with the security staff. To observe the cleanliness of NIH colony and main campus of NIH. Plantation in collaboration with the Horticulture Section at NIH colony and main campus of NIH. Cutting of dried tress and plantation of new on the side/jungle area. To adopt the necessary precautionary measures of residential colony /main campus of NIH in coordination with the Pak. PWD and maintenance sub- Division of NIH. Close collaboration with their Departments of Federal Government like CDA, PWD, WASA, and WAPDA for better provision of the associated facilities. To arrange National / International Meetings / Seminars / Symposiums and Training workshops etc. in the Institute in collaboration with the other Division/Departments of NIH. To arrange visits of delegations from other Government/Semi Government Departments. Allotment of houses to NIH Employees. Hiring / Self-hiring of houses for NIH Employees. Payment of utilities bills like electricity, sui gas, water to concerned departments.
Annual Budget:
Four to five Thousand of trees like silver oak, popular and eucalyptus were planted in the premises Of NIH in consultation with Horticulture section of NIH. More than five thousand fruit plants were distributed amongst the residents of NIH colony. Hiring / Self-Hiring facilities are being extended to more than 120 employees of this Institute within the budget provision against this head. Maintenance of its record, preparation of expenditure sanctions. Recovery of rent of hired houses for the employees. Allotment of housed to NIH Employees and rent recovery of residential accommodation provided to the NIH employees at NIH colony. Monthly payment of utility Bills to the concerned departments. Arrangements of National/ International Meetings, seminars, symposiums and visits of delegation from different departments. During the period under reference, more than 140 National/International /Internal meetings, seminars, Workshops were held. Cleanliness of NIH premises and Residential Area of NIH Colony. Achievements for the last three years: A new Welfare Market has been constructed in the NIH residential colony. The expenditure incurred for the purpose has been met out of Welfare fund of NIH. This market has started functioning. Repair/maintenance of the most of the Quarters at NIH colony like Fly Proofing and roof treatment has been done through Maintenance sub-Division.
Staff Strength (Current & Required):
Future Plans: Drinking water is being supplied to NIH as well as its are residential colony through Filtration plant, under Punjab Government and a significant amount is being paid by the institute as a water rent. Due to old pipelines, the breakdowns are not uncommon. In order to overcome the problem it is a water tank (underground/upper) along with three electric Motor pumps would be constructed. The Roads of NIH premises as well colony were laid at the time of inception of this Institute i.e. 34 years ago and need urgent repair. Efforts are on to carryout the necessary repair in a phased manner. A PC –1 for construction of new residential quarters at NIH colony will also be prepared in order at over the genuine demand of the employees of this Institute. |
